SMR40200 (C) & HIS0169 KIT

The kit was developed in 2001 for Samsung SCT11B chassis (you can download shematic from here), because of the high price and high defect rate of the original IC.

Problems of the original circuit

The reason that induces the short circuit of SMR40200 is that the voltage level in stand by mode rapidly increases (due to the heat) and reaches 180...200V.  The default is generally caused by either SMR40200 or HIS0169 IC (either of them!) and not by a dried capacitor. Such default occurs if the end is ‘C’, yet not so often arises when the end is ‘B’. When the power supply works in order, the system voltage is 125V and approx. 140V in stand by mode. When overvoltage (>180V) occurs, usually the DZ801 zener diode (sometimes other part) gets short circuited. Due to the fact that the supply is not overload protected, SMR40200 will be short circuited.  

How to install the kit

Our kit is a complete power supply, which requires only 300V from the mains capacitor (220uF/ 400V) and to be connected to the original SMPS transformer. There is no need for any other component from the original supply for operation. Thus, if any other component is proven to be also a defective part, it will not be effective for operation. You may leave them inside or remove them from the circuit.
The installation of the SMR40200 kit is very easy. There is no need for any mechanical application, the kit may be fitted into the place of the original SMR40200 IC. Only a little electrical application is required.
